MWC closes with 5G in the spotlight

5G technology took the spotlight at the 2019 Barcelona Mobile World Congress, with Chinese companies rolling out the latest in high-tech.

Thousands of companies sought business opportunities during the key industry expo.

"We are a testing company so we have our customers verified implementations of the network so it can be 3G, 4G, 5G any 'G' equipment. We come here because this is the place to be. Every potential customer is here and so we are to find new business."
 
But the cutting-edge technology fair is not just for business. Thousands of consumers attended the event to see what's new as well.

"I saw new technologies which I never seen before, for instance a foldable phone. Theres also new 5G technologies which are really interesting for my future."
 
China's Nubia also showcased their latest tech.

"This is the Nubia Alpha, the first phone in the world that you can wear. It has the advantages of a smartwatch and of a smartphone."
 
Nubia's new wearable phone has won several awards for its originality.

"It has been viral on social networks these days, it has been the star. It launched in the Asian market a few days ago and now we want to introduce it in Europe. It has been so viral that we have received awards for being commented on the most at this Mobile World Congress."
 
Other Chinese brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE, OnePlus, China Mobile and Lenovo also received a lot of attention at this year's Congress.

Just about Lenovo has joined the conversation here at Mobile World Congress about how we connect, how we work, how we play. Here at Mobile World Congress we have been showing what we have done in some future defining areas like 5G, IoT, Intelligent Devices and Artificial Intelligence."
 
Around 110,000 visitors and 2,400 companies from over 200 countries attended this year's Mobile World Congress, which ran under the theme "Intelligent Connectivity".
 
It was the 14th time Barcelona hosted the event since the Congress was moved to the city in 2006.
