Venezuela Ready to Repel Foreigh Attack

Venezuela's deputy foreign minister Ruben Dario Molina says the Venezuelans are determined to defend their country against any possible foreign attack.

Molina, who visited Iran recently, made the remarks in an interview with Tasnim news agency on Saturday.

He said the Venezuelan government and its leadership are ready to defend the country if attacked.

He added that the country's armed forces?are loyal to President Nicolas Maduro.

Molina urged the international community to respect his country's independence and sovereignty in the face of U.S. provocative measures.

He denounced what he called the U.S. sanctions against his country, stressing that? all problems inside Venezuela could be resolved via dialogue.

Also on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Russia is ready for consultations on the Venezuela crisis with the United States in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter.

According to the statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation around Venezuela with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a telephone conversation.
