China has expressed hope for smooth progress during negotiations to establish a Free Trade Zone with Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang made the remarks at a press briefing on Thursday.
The 15th round of negotiations on China-Japan-ROK Free Trade Zone was held in Tokyo from April 9 to 12.
The spokesperson said he is expecting positive results that will lay a solid foundation for a comprehensive, high-level and mutually beneficial agreement.
Lu said cooperation among the three countries has shown a good momentum of development since the 7th China-Japan-ROK leaders' meeting in May last year.
He said that China, Japan and the ROK firmly stand for free trade and actively promote regional economic integration.
The latest round of free trade zone negotiations shows the countries' common resolve to maintain the multilateral trading system and oppose protectionism and unilateralism.
