Chinese Ambassador on China-Morocco ties

Chinese ambassador to Morocco has said growing ties between Chinese and Moroccan people have created a strong basis for cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Li Li said in recent years, China and Morocco have witnessed increasing exchanges in sectors including tourism, culture and healthcare.
According to the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, the number of Chinese tourists to Morocco has increased from less than 20,000 to around 180,000 per year, since Morocco announced the visa waiver for Chinese citizens in 2016.
Li said having more contact with Chinese travellers and communicating more with Chinese people have helped Moroccans better understand today's modern China.
He noted that Chinese tourism has generated remarkable revenue for Morocco's economy, boosting development and promoting trade between the two countries.
The Chinese ambassador hailed tourism as a new form of economic cooperation between China and Africa.

"China-Africa cooperation usually based on infrastructure projects or natural resource exploitation, while tourism involves participation of Chinese citizens, adding new insight and vitality to the conventional cooperation."
Li said that Morocco enjoys a unique geographical advantage that makes it an important hub in China-Africa cooperation, China-Arab cooperation and China-EU cooperation.
