SOUNDBITE:ZHANG QINGFU, Haier International Home Appliances Company
"The present foreign trade situation is still severe. The trade value of import and export barely reached the same level in the first quarter this year. We hope to see a steady and progressive economic performance this year."

Despite the difficulties, Go Global is still a top priority for many Chinese companies.

Home appliances giant Haier is one of them.

Under the "Global Brand Strategy", the company has gradually built up its marketing network, R&D and manufacture bases around the world since the late 90s.

Haier says it products are now seeing a solid growth in the overseas markets and the sale of high-end product is rocketing. Thanks in part to its localization strategy in different countries and regions in its global layout.

The Canton Fair is often seen as a barometer of China's foreign trade. It's held twice a year in the city of Guangzhou, capital of south China's economic hub Guangdong Province.
