Despite the disruptions from growing protectionism and unilateralism, the Belt and Road Initiative has showed a stronger appeal with the potential to benefit both developing and developed economies.
 
Many say the initiative promotes peace and stability and constitutes a "road map" for regional dialogue and trade.

Akkan Suver, chairman of Turkey's leading NGO Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, said the BRI is a future-oriented roadmap that will contribute to the prosperity of future generations.

The chairman added that more cooperation between Turkey and China could be achieved in fields like energy, communications, and infrastructure.
 
 STANDARD CHARTERED BANK VOICES SUPPORT FOR BRI
 
Jerry Agyeman-Boateng, executive director and head of global subsidiaries in Standard Chartered's global banking department, said the bank sees great prospects in the Belt and Road Initiative.

"If you look at the underlining reason for this Belt and Road Initiative, it is connectivity. And what is a better way to promote trade than to create linkages. If there is no connectivity, no business can go on. That is why they are investing in bridges, in roads etc to make sure that the world is better connected, and I think eventually we will get there."
 
Recognizing the initiative's importance, the bank has employed Chinese-speaking relationship managers in 44 markets across the globe.
 
   
 
It also launched the "Belt and Road Relay", a global running event, to create awareness about the great prospects of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama has said the Belt and Road Initiative has brought prosperity to developing countries and helped foster regional ties.
 
 
CHINESE DIPLOMAT: BRI NEW DRIVING FORCE FOR SINO-ETHIOPIAN RELATIONS
 
Tan Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, said the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative serves as a new driving force in Sino-Ethiopian relations.
 
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Tan Jian made the remarks on Thursday when speaking to the press on the premises of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa.
 
He said the upcoming Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation scheduled to take place by the end of this month in Beijing is another impetus to further partnership forged between the two countries.

"The second Belt and Road Initiative is expected to produce a full range of deliverables, including governmental cooperation agreements and initiatives, as well as concrete cooperation projects involving participation of the business sectors."
 
Reiterating that the BRI is guided by the principle of consultation and cooperation for shared benefits, the ambassador said the upcoming forum would serve as an important platform to further bilateral relations between the two countries.

The ambassador said Ethiopia is one of the 124 countries that have signed Belt and Road Initiative cooperation documents with China.
 
He reiterated China's commitment to supporting Ethiopia to play an important role in jointly advancing the initiative in Africa.
