Citizens across the European Union are voting on the makeup of a new European Parliament, which started on Thursday and will conclude on Sunday.

According to the European Parliament, this year over 400 million citizens are eligible to vote.

Citizens of the 28 EU members vote over the course of four days to elect 751 Members of European Parliament (MEPs) to five-year terms.

The first votes were cast in the Netherlands and Britain on Thursday.

Voters across Britain cast their ballots for the European Parliament elections as it is widely forecast that Brexit Party will take a lead.

A total of 73 MEPs will be elected in the constituencies.

The results from Britain will show whether the newly-launched Brexit Party would win the largest number of the British seats in the European Parliament as is forecast.
