Arnold Donald, head of the world's largest leisure travel company Carnival Corporation, has predicted that China is going to be the world's largest cruise market, and that there are many opportunities for international companies to help the Chinese cruise tourism industry grow.
Economy Report has more.
Donald made the remarks during a forum held by the World Travel and Tourism Council, a London-based organization that represents the private travel and tourism sector globally.
He said China has the potential to be the largest cruise market in the world, and the Carnival Corporation is not only ready to help Chinese customers experience cruise travel, but also help to create more local jobs.
"So one cruise ship job creates about five to seven other jobs in the economy. Uh, so all those things make it um positive, but also it's a great experience and a great vacation experience for Chinese . "
Last November, Carnival Corporation announced the launching of its cruise joint venture with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The new China-based cruise company is set to start operating by the end of this year.
Donald called the joint venture a significant milestone for the development of the cruise industry in China, and he hopes the company can offer great vacation experiences for Chinese tourists with different requirements.

"And so we're looking forward to not only having additional ships through our joint venture with CSSC domestically, sailing home porting in China, but also looking forward to many Chinese who will do fly-cruise, who will choose to fly to a destination and then cruise from there."
