Peru opens national emergency operations center

The Peruvian president inaugurated the new center on Thursday.

"This headquarters has technological equipment and quality infrastructure, as we verified a few moments ago, which will improve the operational capacity of the National Emergency Operations Center. We are strengthening our disaster risk management system."
The center will be responsible for the 24-hour monitoring, validation, and provision of official information on emergencies and disasters in the quake-prone country.
