A Chinese missile destroyer has arrived at the Alexandria Naval Base in Egypt for a four-day technical stop.
The technical stop comes as China celebrates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the People's Navy, as well as the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.
During the welcoming ceremony on Friday, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Liao Liqiang, said the Chinese vessel's arrival has special significance for enhancing the friendship between China and Egypt.
The commander of the 32nd Chinese naval escort fleet said the technical stop will help strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries and consolidate friendly ties between the two navies.
The two navies will also hold a series of activities, such as joint maritime exercises and football matches, during the four-day stop.
