British PM threatens to call general election

The big statement came after MPs voted 328 to 301 to put forward an emergency bill to block  Britain from leaving the EU on Oct. 31 without a deal.
Johnson said if MPs vote for the bill, he would then be forced to ask British voters to decide. A potential election could take place on Oct. 14.
If the emergency bill passes through both houses of parliament and receives Royal consent from Queen Elizabeth this week, it could halt Britain's planned departure from the EU on Oct. 31.
Supporters of the bill say the move is potentially the last opportunity for MPs to prevent Britain from leaving the EU without a deal.
The leader of Britain's main opposition party Jeremy Corbyn said the bill would pave the way to extend the Brexit deadline to Jan. 31 if no deal with the European Union can be reached before October 31.
