PRC founding anniv. celebration in Havana

Top Cuban leaders have attended a ceremony celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC in Havana.

A number of officials, including the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Cuban President, the First Vice President of Cuba, and the Chinese ambassador to Cuba, attended the event on Tuesday.
Cuba's First Vice President said bilateral ties have become an example of relations between socialist nations, South-South cooperation.
He said he highly appreciates a socialist and prosperous China and praised Beijing's role in today's international arena.

"Also at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Chen Xi noted that next year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He commended the Cuban people for their "fearless spirit" and their "perpetual struggle to safeguard their independence, sovereignty and dignity, as well as equality not only at their borders, but throughout the world."

On September 28, 1960, Cuba became the first Latin American nation to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
