Lithuanian capital lights huge Christmas tree

Added On December 2, 2019

Turning to Lithuania now, where people have kicked off the holiday season by lighting a huge Christmas tree in the country's capital.
Let's take a look.
The lighting of the Christmas tree in Vilnius is a special Lithuanian tradition.
A Christmas concert in the city's Cathedral Square helped inspire some holiday cheer.
Organizers used around 6,000 trimmed tree branches to build this year's Christmas tree. Locals say it resembles a figure on a chess board and will be one of the most beautiful Christmas trees in Europe. The festive Christmas lights will be taken down on January 7th.
Until then, people can buy seasonal treats and various handmade gifts at over 50 wooden stalls in the square's Christmas market.
