A charter flight carrying a 9-member Chinese aid team, along with tonnes of medical supplies, arrived in Rome on Thursday night.
It is part of China's efforts to help Italy contain the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The team was organized by the National Health Commission and the Red Cross Society of China.
It is China's third expert team sent abroad following Iran and Iraq.
The expert corps took with them more than 700 pieces of equipment and goods, including ventilators, monitors and defibrillators.
The Chinese experts arrived just two days after the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Italy topped 10,000. The whole country has been under quarantine for three days.
Regarding Chinese aid team to Italy, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said the two countries have formed a joint expert group.
He said China is willing to further promote cooperation with the European side in areas including diagnosis, treatment technology, and research in medicines and vaccines.
