National security legislation for HKSAR

 The decision adopted by China's national legislature Thursday on the national security legislation for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) fully embodies the aspirations of deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC).

That's according to a spokesperson of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee.
The spokesperson said the decision reflects the common will and fundamental interests of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, including Hong Kong compatriots.
The spokesperson added that China will next do a good job in relevant legislative work of the NPC Standing Committee, unswervingly implement the requirements and spirit of the country's Constitution, the Basic Law of the HKSAR and the NPC decision, and ensure the steady and enduring growth of the cause of "one country, two systems."
Also on Thursday, the spokesperson of the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office said that the decision makes the foundation for "one country, two systems" more solid and the future of Hong Kong brighter.
The spokesperson added that the decision reinforces the institutional foundation for safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, as well as guaranteeing the lasting prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR said the office firmly supports the national legislature in adopting the decision to make national security laws for Hong Kong.
The spokesperson said the decision is of great and profound significance in maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and ensuring the practice of "one country, two systems" moves forward on the right track, adding that the liaison office will jointly fulfill the responsibility of safeguarding national security.
