At least 18 people were killed and 57 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack outside an education center in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Saturday.

According to the local police, the explosion occurred Saturday afternoon outside a private education center in western Kabul, when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive vest after being intercepted by the security guards of the facility.

Reuters reported that the Islamic State (IS) group had claimed responsibility for the attack.

In recent years, several educational and cultural centers, mosques and sports facilities have been attacked in the district and most of the attacks have been claimed by the IS group.
