Chinese authorities have urged the United States to immediately stop meddling in the Hong Kong affairs, which are China's internal affairs, and the Chinese side will take all measures necessary in accordance with law to defend its sovereignty, security and development interests.

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson made the remarks after the U.S. government issued the so-called "Hong Kong Business Advisory" and imposed sanctions on seven officials of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, or Hong Kong SAR.

The spokesperson stressed that the issuing of the so-called "Hong Kong Business Advisory" and sanctions imposed on officials in the Hong Kong SAR gravely violate international law and basic norms governing international relations, and severely interfere in China's internal affairs.

The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR on Saturday strongly condemned the U.S. government for smearing Hong Kong's business environment and imposing so-called sanctions on officials of the office.

Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam urged the United States to view Hong Kong matters in an honest and fair manner, instead of intimidating businesses and individuals with the "business advisory."
Chief Secretary for Administration of the SAR government John Lee said the unfounded allegations and the publicity stunt against the business environment of Hong Kong are clear attempts to create trouble out of nothing and intimidate investors.

The spokesperson for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council on Saturday denounced U.S. actions as "despicable."

The spokesperson voiced firm belief that these acts will only backfire and accelerate the downfall of U.S. proxies in Hong Kong, namely the people who antagonize China and disrupt Hong Kong.
